Japanese Symbols

Today, we would like to talk a little about the art of Japanese calligraphy. It is truly an art that developed over hundreds of years. All elementary school students are required to learn the basics of calligraphy., using the charcoal ink and special papers.

Some serious students of all ages learn this art by studying with licensed calligraphy. masters, and gain your ranks by passing exams. Many of you expressed your interest in artistic value of Japanese calligraphy. So I would like to show you one example of a simple symbol for wind or "kaze," and how it changes its appearance by the skillful calligraphers' hand.
